Kids Korner is a quality preschool and school age childcare program. Our goal is to create a caring, high-quality learning environment for children before and after school, on specified non-school days, and during the summer. We provide an environment that encourages adventure, creativity, healthy self-concepts, respect for others, responsible behavior, and a positive attitude. Enrollment Children Kindergarten through 4th grade may be enrolled providing space is available at the age- appropriate site for the school year. Children completed Kindergarten through completed 4th grade may be enrolled into the summer program. Southgate is our main site within Austin Public Schools system during the school year. Students enrolled will be bussed to and from their home school to Southgate at no cost to families. Registration approvals will be confirmed on first come first serve basis. We will offer as many spots as we have staff per our certification guidelines, students may be placed on a waitlist until spots are available. Approved families may not start the program until all fees are paid and processed. If family has indicated that a child has a special circumstance such as a disability, diagnosis or health conditions, a meeting may be required before childcare services can begin to determine the appropriate level of support needed. We reserve the right to combine sites upon reasonable notice to parents (for example, non- school days, weather emergency days, summer programming, pandemics). Austin Public Elementary Schools (Banfield-Sumner, Southgate-Neveln) provides care before and after school care for Austin Public School children kindergarten through 4th grade. The Woodson site is open 6:15—5:15 pm. The elementary sites are open 6:15 pm-8:00 am and 2:30—5:15 pm. Students will be clocked in when they are dismissed from their classroom. This dismissal time will vary from classroom to classroom and may be earlier than the official school dismissal time.Inclement Weather When the district closes school for the day prior to 6:00am due to inclement weather, all Kids Korner sites are also closed. No childcare is available.When the district has a delayed school start due to inclement weather, Kids Korner will be open at 6:15am. Breakfast will not be available at the elementary site until school start time. Please have your child(ren) eat breakfast at home. You may send a "cold" breakfast.If the district closes school for the day after a delayed start, Preschool Kids Korner will close 1 hour after district announcement is made. If school is closed after an initial late start, but before the start of the elementary school day, Kids Korner will close one hour after the school closure is made.When the district has an early dismissal due to inclement weather, Elementary Kids Korner sites will not open. Please make plans to pick up your child from their elementary school. Preschool Kids Korner will close one hour after the closing announcement is made.

Woodson –PreK — Provides care for children ages 3 — 5 who are enrolled in ECFE or ECSE Preschool programs or with limited space availability to the community. Children aged 3 to entering Kindergarten may be enrolled into the summer program. Registration approvals will be confirmed on first come first serve basis. We will offer as many spots as we have staff per our certification guidelines, students may be placed on a waitlist until spots are available. Approved families may not start the program until all fees are paid and processed. If family has indicated that a child has a special circumstance such as a disability, diagnosis or health conditions, a meeting may be required before childcare services can begin to determine the appropriate level of support needed. ✨ All students must be toilet trained at the time of enrollment unless there is a documented medical reason. Woodson PreK site opens Monday-Friday at 6:15 am— 5:15 pm. Preschool families will need to pay for meals served to children during Kids Korner childcare at the CLC. Breakfast will be available for approximately $3.25 and lunch for about $5.65 daily. (Rate will be determined later this summer by the state.) You may choose to purchase meals at these rates, or your child is welcome to bring meals from home. Please note: Under Minnesota’s Free School Meals for Kids law, PreK students receive free meals only during their school day—breakfast for morning students and lunch for afternoon students. Those meals will continue to be provided at no cost to families.
